- About me
We die to each other daily. What we know of other people is only our memory of the moments during which we knew them. And they have changed since then. To pretend that they and we are the same is a useful and convenient social convention which must sometimes be broken. We must also remember that at every meeting we are meeting a stranger. (T.S. Elliot). We’re all flawed individuals and if we seek perfection in a mate we’re in for a $ucky surprise. But, if we seek a fellow seeker, a fellow traveler, we can find joy and love in an unexpected hour. Hell, even that elusive True Companion will have issues of one sort or another. Are you able to accept that and run with it? I know I am. I’m kind, caring, friendly, empathetic, loving, intelligent, loyal, and have a strong sense of humor. I have my share of problems — let’s be honest here. We all do from time to time. Life is a fun, scary, crazy, $uck-@$$ rollercoaster. If you don’t pay for the ticket and climb on, you’ll never know just HOW fun, scary, crazy, etc it gets. I?m a pretty simple guy. Laid back. But I’m not a couch potato. People who say they are hard-working but make the most of their free time don’t impress me. I want to see a focus on enjoying whether it’s at your job or not. I don’t watch a lot of TV, (and that includes sports and reality shows.) I?m not looking for fame and fortune and all that. I?m not into busting my backside to make big bucks for my boss (though apparently I?m suddenly into alliteration!) I spent a long time doing that and I?m really enjoying working in education and feeling like I?m making a difference in society. My ideal ?new best good friend? would work in an education related profession or in some sort of social field. I?m NOT looking for a sugar-mama. I try to eat healthy ? paleo, or at least all real ingredients. I enjoy cooking and hanging out in the kitchen. I like to get outside for walks, riding bikes (for fun, not competition!) The mountains or bosque are great places to spend the day, but I?m fine with trips to Home Depot or whatevs. I like to hang out with people who are educated, or at the least, well-read. You should be aware of what is going on in the world around you. You don?t have to be militant, but be concerned. And, please, don?t tell me about Twilight or Shades of Gray or James Patterson. If you can buy the book at the grocery store, I don?t want to hear about it. This ain’t my first rodeo and I’m trying to be harder to please. I’m looking for a friend right now; someone to hang out with. I’ve been around enough to be hip to what the whole thrill of romance is about and, while I certainly enjoy that time in a relationship when everything is all gushy. I know that that feeling of being in love is part of my fight/flight/freeze response. I’m looking for what comes after that. If we can’t be friends outside of the lust, then what have we got? As my quote from Lao Tzu notes, a good traveler is not intent on arriving. Getting there is all the fun. If you are into personality types, I am an INFJ — the rarest of the types! 🙂 ? and a 6 on an Enneagram. You might want to look those up; there’ll be a quiz on it later. That’s all I’m going to say for now.
